                                                 Jupiter Aerobatic Team Indonesia Air Force



The Jupiter Aerobatic Team is the Indonesian Air Force aerobatic display team flying with six KT-1B Woong Bee airplanes painted in red and white from Skadik (Skadron Pendidikan / Training Squadron) 102, Adisutjipto AFB, Yogyakarta. Aircrafts of the Jupiter team are equipped with white smoke generators. The pilots of the Jupiter Aerobatic Team (JAT) are all instructors. The team is named "JUPITER" after the call-sign of TNI AU (Tentara Nasional Indonesia - Angkatan Udara / Indonesian Air Force) instructors


History

In 1996 the new Indonesian Air Force aerobatic team was formed and equipped with eight Hawk Mk.53 planes from Skadik 103. The team was named Jupiter and performed for the first time On Sept 23, 1997, but in 2001 the team became Jupiter Blue together with Elang Biru.

The Jupiter Aerobatic Team (JAT) was reformed again in 2008, using 4 Korean Aerospace KT-1B Woong Bee from 102 Training Squadron, Adisutjipto AFB, Yogyakarta. The team first public show was on July 4, 2008 in Yogyakarta and their second was in Jakarta, November 2008.

In 2010 after two years of stagnation, the JAT begins a training program with help from Australian Roulettes display team. In September 2010 two Jupiter team's pilots have been sent to Australia to observe and practice flying maneuvers together with Roulettes at their home base in East Sale, Victoria, Australia. On Nov 8, 2010 the Roulettes performed in Halim Air Force Base, Jakarta in which six JAT members had the opportunity to fly at the back seat of Roulettes PC-9s during their practice.

In 2011 the Jupiter planes increased to six and received new red-white color livery as the colors of Indonesia flag. Jupiter Aerobatic Team KB-1B planes received also white smoke generators. The first demonstration with new six-ship formation composition was on March 16th in Yogyakarta at the launching of new livery ceremony by Indonesian AF. The second airshow was on April 9th in Jakarta at the TNI AU's 65th anniversary and the third on 17th April 2011 again in Yogyakarta.
